As you will recall, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Infrastructure attended the Hospital in February of 2019 to confirm that Hotel Dieu Shaver would be receiving a planning grant for expansion of our inpatient beds.
Hotel Dieu Shaver is very happy to advise that we have now received the grant and are working very closely with our Planners to prepare the next stage submission that must be forwarded to the Ministry for further approvals.
There are a total of 5 stages that must be completed.
Each stage builds on the other and we are currently in the process of developing our Stage 1 submission.
We are hopeful that Stage 1 will be finalized and sent to the Ministry for approval by late spring or early summer of 2020.
Therefore, our timelines are much expedited.
As we move further through the process, there will be opportunities for engagement with our staff and members of our community to help ensure the expansion reflects best practice and maximizes optimum healthcare output for our patients.
Sincerest thanks to the Honourable Christine Elliott, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and the Honourable Laurie Scott, Minister of Infrastructure for their continued support and to our staff, physicians, Trustees, volunteers and patient advisers for their patience and perseverance as we move through this very exciting project – expanding on Hotel Dieu Shaver’s significant contribution to the community – enhancing the wellness and quality of life for so many, while also assisting in relieving hallway medicine and ensuring that residents of Niagara, and our region’s rapidly expanding demographics, receive the right care in the right place at the right time.
Congratulations to everyone!
