Position: Stores Assistant (RPT – 1 shift per week)
The Stores Assistant fills requisitions by topping up carts and delivering supplies to departments within the organization. The Stores Assistant also ensures that supplies are delivered on a weekly basis from Mohawk Supply Chain and ensures that all supplies are delivered in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fills supply orders (i.e. pick lists) by retrieving the items listed and placing them on the supply carts for the departments. Delivers supplies to departments throughout the hospital.
- Unpacks and shelves shipped goods, rotating stock as necessary.
- Reports order discrepancies i.e. Short shipped, damaged goods to Mohawk Supply Chain and complete the necessary forms identifying the discrepancy.
- Collapses and removes cardboard boxes in preparation for recycling.
- Adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the associated regulations and Hospital Policies in order to promote employee and patient safety in the workplace.
- Other job duties, as required.
The successful candidate will possess:
- An Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess good numerical skills to check delivery quantities and to dispense supplies.
- Requires English literacy skills for recording simples messages and reading package labels and requisitions.
- Must have good human relations skills in order to work cooperatively with staff.
- Must possess knowledge of WHMIS sufficient to handle and store products and material safely and properly
- Must be able to work independently, following specific procedures and schedules.
- Must be able to operate a computer in order to access basic information.
- Must be able to move boxes of supplies, load delivery cart and stock shelves. The maximum weight required to lift is heavy weight (over 15 kg or 33 lbs). Includes frequent pushing, pulling, standing, lifting, kneeling, squatting, pivoting, and walking.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
