Sister Louise has been a member of the religious congregation of Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph for the past 36 years. Sr. Louise has dedicated over 41 years to the healthcare profession, of which 31 years have been with the Hotel Dieu family in St. Catharines. Currently, Sr. Louise is Director of Mission and Pastoral Services at Hotel Dieu Shaver. Sr. Louise has been instrumental in providing leadership for the development of the Organization’s Mission and Values as well as ensuring education for all stakeholders. Sr. Louise has had a deep passion for caring for the sick and those most in need, and during her years in healthcare, she has provided emotional and spiritual support to numerous people. Many of those hours as a chaplain would be while on-call in the middle of the night to offer much-needed comfort in critical situations. Sr. Louise was a member of the inaugural palliative care program at Hotel Dieu Hospital and continues to have a strong focus today on end-of-life care at Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

Sr. Louise trained as a Registered Practical Nurse at Kingston General Hospital and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ottawa. Clinical Pastoral Education Units at Montreal General Hospital and Sister’s of Charity Hospital in Buffalo prepared Sister Louise for her many years of dedication to the emotional and spiritual needs of those in her care. Most recently, she completed a Culturally Competent Indigenous Program to assist with meeting the needs of Indigenous Peoples.
